Ripple Ruler
Rule over ripples to guide your boat to safety! As an entry to the GMTK 2023 game jam with theme "Roles Reversed", you get to play as the water instead of the boat, controlling the ripples to push the boat to its destination. Avoid dangerous rocks, floating logs and ferocious ducks.
This game features 9 main levels and 1 secret level. Good luck!
My name is Alexander Winter and I made this game solo in 48 hours for the game jam. I've drawn all graphics using GIMP during the Jam, except the font and UI element which was obtained from https://github.com/czyzby/gdx-skins All music was composed and recorded using my flute from the jam and sound effects were recorded either at home or at the park. The game was made with the libGDX game engine and you can consult the source code at https://github.com/WinterAlexander/GMTKJam

You can either play in the browser or on desktop. On desktop you need Java 8 or later installed. Download the .jar file and double click on it.

the idea is very interesting, it reminds me of some flash type games i used to play way back in the day. the slippery physics make the game pretty frustrating but they still feel right for the most part, a keybind to change the ripple type would've definitely made it easier but all in all it's really fun and i will be spending the next few hours of the night trying to beat it lol

Interesting! I think it’s overall pretty cool.
I like the secret level, don't know how you get to it legitimately, I just pressed numbers on the keyboard to hop around all the levels.
